Innovox Hopes to Improve Plasma Audio with Pro Style Soundframe Speakers
Spring 2004

Let’s face it. The speakers that come with most plasma TVs suck. Many consumer plasma and flat-panel LCD TVs are carried over from the product lines that manufacturers typically sell to commercial venues, speakers not included. Why not carry over some professional speakers as well? That’s what Innovox decided to do. The company, with its expertise making speakers for the professional installation market, has decided to introduce the Sound Frame Residential series to the consumer world. The wall-mounted speakers are only 1.5 to 3.5 inches deep, which matches perfectly with the depth of most flat-panel TVs and drop-down projection screens. They come in a range of sizes and custom finishes to match any display or decor. The product literature boasts of the speakers’ smooth power response, which undoubtedly is helped by the damped steel enclosures. The cabinet doubles as a heat sink for the low-frequency drivers, contributing to the drivers’ output capability. The 104- and 204-series units ($248 each and $420 each, respectively) mate well with In novox’s passive subwoofer, the SBR-45-Sub ($599).
